Set up automations on a Facebook Page

Facebook Page automations work like Instagram ones. Where to start, which guide to follow, and what's different on a Page, including no Ask to follow.

Automations on a Facebook Page work almost the same as on Instagram. You get the same templates, the same editor and the same Flow Builder, so the Instagram guides apply step by step. This guide shows where to start, which guide to follow, and the few things that are different on a Page.

The biggest difference: a Facebook Page has no Ask to follow step. Zorcha sends your DM to everyone who comments or messages, whether or not they follow your Page.

Before you start

Step 1: Start a new automation

If you just connected your Page, Zorcha shows a Create your first automation screen. Click DM from Comments or Respond to DMs, then go to Step 2.

If you're coming back later, open your Page's workspace from the workspace menu at the top left. Click Automations in the left menu, then New Automation. If you have no automations yet, Start Automating opens the same list.

Step 2: Follow the Instagram guide for what you want

Pick the guide that matches your goal and follow it as written. Where it says post or reel, use your Page post. Where it says Instagram, read Facebook Page.

What's different on a Facebook Page

No Ask to follow

Instagram guides mention Ask to follow before sending DM. On a Page, this option isn't there, so skip any step about it. Everyone who triggers the automation gets your DM straight away.

Follow Up to Re-Engage is a different option. It isn't about following your Page: it sends a reminder when someone doesn't open your link, and you can use it on a Page.

No Stories or ads

Facebook Page automations start from post comments and Messenger messages only. The DM from Stories and DM from Ads templates, and the Story and ad triggers in Flow Builder, are for Instagram.

Flow Builder shows a Facebook Page section

When you pick a trigger, the Facebook Page section has Comments on a Post and Sends you a Message. The Forms and Audience triggers work the same as on Instagram.

When you add a step, the Facebook Page section has Send a Message and Collect Info. Logic and External steps are the same, except Send Meta Conversion Event, which isn't available on a Page.

Text-only posts work

When you pick a post, you can choose a Page post that has only text, with no photo or video.

Keep messages with buttons under 640 characters

Facebook allows up to 640 characters in a message that has a button, such as a link button or an opening message. If a message is longer, Zorcha shows Messages with buttons can be at most 640 characters on Facebook Pages. Shorten the text, or move part of it into a second message.

Test your automation

From another Facebook account, comment your keyword on the post, or send the keyword to your Page in Messenger. Check that the DM arrives.

If nothing arrives, check that the automation is live and that Zorcha is your Page's default Messenger app: Facebook Page DMs not sending: another app controls the conversation.
