Where form answers live: submissions, contacts and Audience

Form answers stay with the form, not in your contacts. Where to find them and how to get them into a sheet.

Someone fills in your form from your bio link or a DM. Where do their answers go, and will that person show up in your contacts?

The short answer

Form answers stay with the form. Every submission is saved on that form's Submissions tab. It isn't added to your contacts, so it won't appear in Audience.

Where each submission is saved

Each time someone submits your form, Zorcha saves one submission with:

The Submissions tab of a form, where every answer lives

  • their answers, each saved under the field's Form field slug (for example city or whatsapp_number)

  • the date and time they submitted

  • whether they confirmed their email address with a code, if your form asks for one

To see them, go to Forms, open the form and click the Submissions tab. From there you can open any submission or export them all as a CSV file. See View and export submissions.

A form link doesn't tell Zorcha who opened it, so a submission isn't linked to an Instagram account, even when you sent the link in a DM.

Why form answers aren't in your contacts

Audience is built from your contacts. Submitting a form doesn't create a contact or update an existing one, so a new email address or phone number from a form won't appear there, and you can't filter contacts by form answers.

Audience does have a Submitted a form filter, but because submissions from your form link aren't tied to a contact, it won't find the people who filled in your form.

Hear about new submissions

Zorcha doesn't email or notify you when someone submits a form. Check the form's Submissions tab, or send every submission to a Google Sheet (above) so your team works from one list.

What you can and can't do

You can:

  • see every submission on the form's Submissions tab, verified or not

  • export all of a form's submissions to a CSV file

  • add a Google Sheets row for every submission with a Submits a Form automation

  • save an email address or phone number to a contact by asking for it in a DM

You can't:

  • add form answers to your contacts or Audience automatically

  • filter Audience by form answers

  • get an email or notification for each new submission

  • see which Instagram account submitted a form

  • delete a submission
