What are the Different DM Formats in Zorcha?

The Send a DM step in Zorcha supports six message formats that help you create more engaging and personalized Instagram automations.

Each format is designed for a different purpose, whether you're delivering a resource, showcasing products, sharing a voice note, or guiding users toward a specific action.

How to Access DM Formats

  1. Log in to your Zorcha dashboard.

  2. Go to Automations from the left-hand sidebar.

  3. Open an existing automation or create a new one.

  4. On the right-hand side, scroll to Step 3: Send a DM.

  5. Click Add Message.

  6. You'll see all six DM formats available to build your message.

From here, simply select the DM format you want to use and configure it as needed.

Different Types of DM Formats

Given below are the types of DM formats available in Zorcha for you to create a DM message for an automation:

1. Text

Text is the default DM format in Zorcha.

It allows you to send plain text messages along with emojis and is best suited for conversational messages, follow-ups, reminders, and questions.

2. Audio

The Audio format lets you send a voice note directly inside Instagram DMs.

Recipients can listen to the audio message without leaving Instagram.

3. File / Guide

The File format allows you to attach a PDF directly inside the DM.

Recipients see a file card containing the document name and a preview of the first page, which they can open without leaving Instagram.

Note: Direct PDF delivery inside Instagram DMs is exclusive to Zorcha.

4. Media

Media lets you attach a single image or video inside the DM.

The visual content appears as an expandable image or playable video.

5. Card with Image

A card with an image combines three elements into a single card:

  • An image

  • A text description

  • A button

This format works well when you want to promote one offer and encourage a single action.

6. Card Carousel

Card Carousel displays multiple swipeable cards inside a single DM.

Each card can have its own:

  • Image

  • Text

  • Button

Users can swipe through the cards without leaving the conversation.

1. Add Button

The Add Button feature lets you include a clickable call-to-action below your message.

Examples include:

  • Get the Guide

  • Book a Call

  • Shop Now

  • Learn More

Button taps can be tracked and used in subsequent automation steps.

2. Add Message

Add Message allows you to combine multiple DM formats within a single Send a DM step.

For example, you can send:

  • A text message

  • A PDF guide

  • A follow-up message

  • A button

All of these can be delivered together in one DM instead of creating separate steps.
