Fix Instagram automation not working after opening DMs

Your automation stops after a user interacts with your Opening DM. The automation may work once but then fails on subsequent interactions.

What’s going on?

Instagram allows multiple apps to manage your messages. When another app (like Meta Business Suite or another chatbot) responds to a conversation, it takes over control of that chat thread. This prevents Zorcha from sending further messages until it regains control.

What you can do

  1. Open Facebook → Click Settings & Privacy → Settings
    Ensure you are on the page linked to your Instagram Account
    ​

  2. Click Page setup → Click Advanced messaging
    ​

  3. In Advanced messaging, find Zorcha-IG in the connected apps → Click Edit
    ​

  4. Enable following toggles:
    ✅ Access standby channel
    Lets Zorcha see messages even when not active
    ​
    ✅ Take control of conversations
    Lets Zorcha resume automations automatically


Tips to Avoid Issues

  • Don't reply manually via Meta Business Suite while automations are running

  • Disconnect unused apps that might interfere with your Instagram DMs

  • If using multiple tools, ensure they don't overlap on the same triggers
